Hazelnut praline with Italian nougat (Tartufo Gianduja). Ingredients: MILK chocolate with Gianduja HAZELNUTS 56% (sugar, HAZELNUTS 25%, cocoa butter, whole MILK powder, cocoa mass, emulsifier: soya lecithin, cocoa content at least 26.6%), hazelnuts (Piedmont hazelnuts 23%, hazelnut paste), cocoa powder, sugar. May contain traces of PISTACHIOS and ALMONDS. Gluten-free. Ingredients sourced from the EU and non-EU countries. Store in a cool, dry place.

What is Gianduja?
Gianduja is a Praline base mixture, which is made from nuts, sugar, chocolate and cocoa butter. Suitable nuts include hazelnuts or almonds, for example. For the Gianduja truffle hazelnuts are used. In Germany, Gianduja, which originates from Piedmont, is often simply referred to as nougat, even if that is not entirely correct.
There is also a „pasta gianduja“ (sometimes also found spelled „pasta gianduia“). This refers to a creamy variation of gianduja that can be used as a spread like Nutella.

If you want to translate „gianduja“ into German, you get Nougat comes closest to the meaning of the word. However, „gianduja“ is also referred to as Gianduja in German, and if one does not want to distort the meaning, one should stick to this term.
How are Gianduja truffles made?
Gianduja truffles are made from hazelnuts, icing sugar and milk chocolate couverture or Cocoa butter done. To make the gianduja paste, the nuts are roasted and then ground until oily. The mixture is then blended with whole milk couverture or cocoa butter and poured into truffle moulds.
The hazelnuts used in the process are not just any hazelnuts: they are Piedmont hazelnuts PGI (Protected Geographical Indication).
